I was looking at getting rid of my big old Sony music system which has served me well over the past 5 years. The sound is really good but it takes up so much space within my room. I didn’t want to lose the sound quality but I wanted to lose the size of the system to make more space in my room. I have an iPod touch and my sister has the iPod nano which we both store our music on. I thought that it may be useful to look at getting an iPod docking station which will save having clutter around the home such as CD’s and wires from speakers everywhere. Which docking station do I go for? Well, I had been looking at a variety of docking stations form brands such as Gear 4, JBL, Logitech and Jamo. In terms of quality of sound which is most important to me the Jamo looked to be the one to buy. However, I wasn’t too convinced by the look of it really which made me a bit weary before purchasing. So I decided to look at alternatives and ask friends and family.
Bose, Bose, Bose, was all I heard from my uncle who had just purchased a 5.1 lifestyle 38 system and told me to look at the two docking stations Bose do which are either portable or non-portable. To my surprise, the quality of sound was sublime from both; it blew me away when I viewed it in store which is in an open area. I could only imagine how it would sound at home surrounded by walls. The Bose SoundDock portable offered slightly more features such as being able to be used portable with a lithium-ion battery for up to 16 hours as well as having an audio in connection which can be used to connect other MP3 players if you don’t have an iPod, Desktop, Notebook and even TV. The dock folds up at the front and you have a handle to carry the Docking station easily. This appealed to me slightly more and I could see myself using these functions which lead me more towards the Bose portable. The Bose portable was slightly more money than the non-portable but it offers more functions. The Bose SoundDock delivers like no other docking station can in terms of sound quality and style. If your looking at getting rid of your old music system but don’t want to lose the quality of sound than this is really the system for you.
